心情和天气
Xīnqíng hé tiānqì — Feelings & Weather
The last unit of the year pairs two things children talk about constantly — how they feel and what it’s doing outside — and then looks back across everything learned since September.
Unit objectives
By the end of this unit, students will be able to:
- Say how they feel using 我很高兴 and three other feelings
- Describe today’s weather in one sentence
- Answer 你好吗? with something other than a shrug
- Use words from every earlier unit in a final review game
Key vocabulary
Four feelings and five weather words to close out the year.
高兴 伤心 生气 累 晋天 下雨 下雪 冷 热
How I feel, what it’s doing outside
Four feelings
Faces on flashcards, then the mirror game — make the face, say the word, guess each other’s feelings.
Weather & year review
A daily weather report students give themselves, then the big review game pulling one word from each of the year’s ten units.
Morning weather check
Look out the window each morning and say the weather in Chinese. One sentence, every day, all summer.
What a year of listening built
A child finishing this year can greet people, count, name colours, animals, foods, family and body parts, follow classroom instructions in Chinese, and hear the difference between four tones. None of it was read or written, and that was the design — the ear goes first, and it’s the part that can’t be crammed later. Grade 1 picks up exactly here and starts turning those sounds into characters, beginning with the numbers they already know cold.
End-of-year check
Not a test — a snapshot. Can your child:
- Greet you and say their name in Chinese?
- Count to ten?
- Name three colours, three animals and three foods?
- Tell you how they feel today?
All four means they’re ready for Grade 1. Three out of four also means they’re ready — everything spirals back.
