Grade 8 Spanish · My Voice in Spanish

Mi Voz en Español
My Voice in Spanish

🎯 Target: Intermediate Low (exit target)📅 6 units · full school year⏳ 4–5 sessions/week · 45–50 min

This year at a glance

The capstone year. Students contrast past and present, argue positions kindly, study one country deeply, and leave with a defended portfolio and an exit IPA — ready to place into second-year high school Spanish.

By the end of Grade 8, students can say:

  • I can compare how things were then and how they are now.
  • I can describe my plans for the future and explain why.
  • I can research a Spanish-speaking country and present it in depth.

Standards

Every unit is aligned to the ACTFL World-Readiness Standards (Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, Communities) with NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do statements as learning targets. See the full curriculum map.

For families & teachers

🏠 At home

Your student can now handle real conversations with Spanish-speaking family, neighbors, or businesses — create those chances. Attend the portfolio defense.

🍎 In the classroom

Exit assessment doubles as high school placement evidence (target: Intermediate Low, placing into Spanish II). Imperfect/preterite contrast is introduced functionally, not exhaustively.
